Darren takes the Elwer Fence Sprints Feature Win on Opening Night at Limaland Speedway
Darren won the Elwer Fence Sprints Feature at opening night at Limaland Speedway.
The 2008 racing season is underway at Limaland Motorsports Park. On a beautiful night in Northwest Ohio, a huge crowd assembled at Ohio’s Quarter-Mile of Thunder to watch the drivers knock the rust off. The Elwer Fence Sprints, Professional Computer Company Modifieds and Bud Thunderstock’s thrilled the fans with dramatic, late-race passes for the win. Twenty-eight sprint cars were on hand for the Spring Fling event. The cars were divided up into three heats which were won by Ron Blair, Kent Wolters, and Dennis Yoakam. The feature found Cory Seeling and Tim Allison on the front row followed by Luke Hall and Rick Boughan. Allison asserted himself early and held off a racey Luke Hall. Allison and Hall battled in every turn until Dwain Leiber and Chad Gullett flipped in turn three. Just before the flip, Hall dove past Allison but tapped the wall on exit. During the red flag, Hall took his damaged car to the infield and returned the lead to Allison. This set up a classic dash between Allison and Elida’s favorite son, Darren Long. Long followed Allison for three laps while sizing him up for the pass. Just as Hall had done, Long dove into a hole left open by Allison upon entry into turn three. Long pulled away from Allison to pick up the feature win. Allison, Miller, Stewart, and Boughan rounded out the top five. Summary from Limaland.com
