Summary from sprintsondirt.com
From T.J. Buffenbarger: LAKE ODESSA, Mich. (June 28, 2008) – Dustin Daggett captured the final leg of the North/South Shootout between the Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt presented by Victor Reinz and the EFI-National Racing Alliance on Saturday during the Full Throttle Nationals at I-96 Speedway.

Daggett passed Sean Robinson for the lead and held off Darren Long during a last lap restart for the feature victory in the Mott Motorsports’ Gaerte powered Maxim chassis.

“The top of the race track was really nice, and there wasn’t many people up there at the start of the race,” said Daggett in victory lane. “The battle with Sean (Robinson) for the lead was a lot of fun.”

Joe Bares and Louie Carufel started on the front row for the 25-lap feature event. Carufel pulled out to a commanding lead with Sean Robinson quickly moving into the second spot. Then with seven laps completed Chad Gullett broke the jacobs ladder on his car and flipped hard in turn three. Gullett was uninjured, but while taking evasive action to miss Gullett’s flipped racer the leader Carufel complained of back pain and retired from the event for treatment.

Robinson inherited the lead with Daggett, who started seventh, right behind him for the restart. Robinson and Daggett ran side by side for a pair of laps before Daggett used a slide job in turn for to take over the lead.

Meanwhile eighth starting Long began to pick up momentum and disposed of Robinson for second and set out after Daggett for the lead. Daggett had built up a sizeable advantage until the caution appeared with one lap to go for a spin in turn two by the outside front row starter Bares. This set up a one lap shootout on the restart with Long on Daggett’s back bumper. Daggett was up to the challenge though and captured the win over Long, J.R. Stewart, Ryan Grubaugh from 13th, and Robinson.

Robinson, Bares, and Tim Allison won heat race events. Naida won the Total Seal/Gaerte Engines Fast Car Dash, and Tim Norman won the Engine Pro B-Main event.
